The short version of the announcement is that cPanel used to cost us $15/server, it now costs anything up to $120/server, and will cost more from January, up to 70%. It's not something they indicated to us at all when we got our original partner pricing.

Given that we provide our packages at a very thin margin of profitability - the cPanel price rise means we are essentially making a loss on each of the package sales. This will mean our package prices will be readjusted starting from January 1, 2021. All the orders placed on or before December 31, 2020, will be able to get the service at the same old price except for reseller hosting whose price would be readjusted depending on the number of accounts they contain. The package price update will only impact new orders on or after January 1, 2021.

Despite the price increment, cPanel is still the best system on the market and one that is often preferred by our users. This is why we'll continue using the control panel as our primary and depending on the user interest - we'll look into the alternatives and roll them out as fit.

The price increase is projected to impact the pricing for the following packages:

  1. Single Unlimited / Babal Unlimited
  2. WordPress Starter / WordPress Pro
  3. Python Pro / Node.js Pro
  4. Starter Reseller / Babal Reseller

We're likely to also introduce a middle tire for some of the packages to smoothen the price difference between the packages.

More details to follow.
